Barcelona Zoo. African elephants.
The Barcelona Zoo is a hundred-year-old institution with the mission of preserving endangered species, biodiversity research and education. Its facilities are located in the Parc de la Ciutadella, where occupy a surface area of 13.5 hectares. Opened in 1892, the Zoo has one of the most important collections of animals in Europe.

Visitors have the opportunity to see up close about 2,200 specimens corresponding to more than 315 species. Within the Zoological Park are also more than a thousand trees of 96 different species, some with more than one hundred years.

The Zoo of Barcelona has a great offer of services and activities that allow the visitor to spend an unforgettable day with family.

Highlights

✔ Land of dragons. It houses a total of five species of animals from Asia and the Pacific, with Komodo dragons in the foreground.
✔ Aquarama, a huge pond provided with a platform for observation of marine mammals.
✔ Gorillas area, dedicated entirely to the primates closest to humans.
✔ Aviary. It houses more than 70 species of birds from different continents.
✔ The Terrarium, with one of the best collections of amphibians and reptiles in Europe.
✔ Gallery of small primates, a glazed space where the public can contemplate the social behavior of these mammals.
✔ The Palmeral, an installation located at the entrance of the Zoo, formed by a set of thirteen aviaries in which inhabit large numbers of parrots and cockatoos.
✔ Marmoset Gallery, with a sample of the smallest primates, the South American tamarins.
✔ La Granja (Children's Zoo), one of the most beloved facilities for children.
