Barcelona Aquarium

In the Barcelona Old Port we find one of the largest aquariums in Europe and the most important in the world in submarine fauna of the Mediterranean. Since its inauguration in 1996 its facilities have become a point of reference in the leisure offer of the city of Barcelona. Here you can find the perfect place to spend a pleasant day with the whole family or you can live one of the most fantastic experiences of your life.

The Aquarium of Barcelona is a privileged place to know the deep sea and its inhabitants. For this purpose there are 35 different aquariums containing about 11,000 animals belonging to 450 different species.

Aquarium Sections

✔ The Oceanarium, unique in Europe, is the Aquarium's largest tank, with 36 meters in diameter, 5 meters deep and about 4 million liters of water. A spectacular transparent tunnel more than 80 meters long allows to cross underneath Oceanarium and enjoy a spectacular submarine walk.
✔ Mediterranean aquariums. 14 aquariums representative of the different Mediterranean areas.
✔ Tropical aquariums. 7 aquariums representing the tropical seas with their most characteristic species.
✔ Planet Aqua. An exhibition showing many aquatic animals that have adapted perfectly to the most diverse environment conditions.
✔ Jewels of the sea. Permanent exhibition dedicated to molluscs.
✔ ¡Explore! - an interactive space designed to make known the sea world to children.
